Latest e success of "Nannaku Prematho", NTR has teamed up with hit director Koratala Siva for "Janatha Garage". Ever since the movie was announced, it has created huge interest among the film lovers and with the casting of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal the interest hiked further.

Let's find out how the film has fared and whether it has the potential to become blockbuster.

Story:

The film tells the story of two unlikely people brought together by coincidence (or is it??) – One a nature lover, Anand (Jr NTR) and another social activist Satyam (Mohanlal) helps people in needy in Hyderabad. Anand doesn’t know anything about his Parents as the former wanted him to stay away from Hyderabad. For his environmental research Anand comes to Hyderabad and starts bonding with Satyam and realize they have more in common than they’d initially imagined. But one fine day Anand comes to know about his father because of Bujji (Samantha Ruth Prabhu) and Suresh. Anand’s life goes upside down after that and within no time he lands in the shoes of Satyam to start repairing few evil spirited people around.

Performance

Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal was fine in his screen time. His powerful, yet broody mood suits him very aptly, and for an actor of his stature, it would have been a piece of cake. Its just that the plot seems unsure as to pitch him as some one your heart goes out to.

'Janatha Garage' is going to be one of the memorable movie in NTR's career. His maturity levels were impeccable, especially in the Rajeev Kanakala episode. Be it performance or dialogue delivery.
Doesn't matter the result of movie but performances of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao is up to the stature of his name. His MJ styled dance steps in the song “Apple Beauty” were good.

Samantha and Nithya Menen are wasted in the movie, they does not have much role to play... Even within the shorter play time Nithya was okay but Samantha looks boring on screen.

Bhramaji, Ajay, Rajeev, Sitara, Suresh, Devayani , Unni Mukundan and Sai Kumar have done their parts well giving the adequate support the story. Kajal Agarwal sizzles in “Pakka Local” special Item song.

Technical Aspects

Koratala Siva takes  inspirations from “Baasha” and loosely based on “Godfather”, RGV’s “Sarkar”. But Janatha Garage manages to keep us engaging in times but fails to create an impact.
Director failed to make the most out of an actor of Mohan Lal's stature. Screen time of NTR is less in First Half & the romantic track isn't promising. There wasn't comic relief either.

In the Second Half 40 minutes takes the film to the next level. Particularly, The episode of Rajeev Kanakala. Both NTR & Koratala excelled here. However, Director failed to continue this emotional high thereafter and lost the track in the last half hour.

The background score punctuates the fight sequences and few elevation sequences post interval. Cinematographer Tiru captures the visuals decently, whether it’s the action or a weekend tour. The usage of CG shots for the background didn’t gel well with the frame of the cinematographer.
Mythri Movie makers have pulled out all the marketing stops for this movie ,Production Values of Mythri Movie Makers are grand.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music is not up to the mark. Only couple of songs are good. Editing is not good -need to cut plenty of unnecessary scenes. Fights are routine. Dialogues are good .

Plus Points:

  • Mohanlal Performance
  • NTR Performance
  • Rajeev Kanakala episode
  • Cinematography
  • Some dialogues

Minus Points:

  • Weak Villain
  • Climax
  • Love Episode
  • No Entertainment
  • Heroines

Finally My personal opinion about Director :

Koratala siva’s writing is full of errors. His screenplay is not convincing. story of Koratala Siva which is not at all new, he inspired by Baasha” and“Godfather”, RGV’s “Sarkar, ..Director missed 3rd success .Overall, 'Janatha Garage'Just Okay film.

Rating : 2.0/5
Tagline : Needed a few repairs
Final Word : Not a good movie but not totally bad either(Okay film)
