Apple India has reportedly reduced the maximum retail price of old generation iPhones in India ahead of the 2015 series iPhone 6S launch.

As per the Apple's revised price details memo for the retailers in India, Apple's 2013 model iPhone 5S -16GB and 32GB models will now be sold for Rs 35,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively. Previously they used to cost Rs 44,500 and Rs 49,500.

The 2014 series Apple iPhone 6 – 16GB and 64GB- would cost Rs 52,000 and Rs 62,000 respectively. On the other hand, 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus (16GB and 64GB) will set you back by Rs 62,000 and Rs 72,000 respectively, reported NDTV Gadgets.

Despite the price-cut, iPhone 6 series are still above the Rs 52,000 mark. Many feel that it is really expensive for the one generation old devices.

It is believed that a moderate price-cut might have to do with India's high custom duty taxes for imported electronics gadgets. Furthermore, Rupee's steady decline against the US Dollar is being cited as another reason behind the not-so pocket-friendly price-cut.

The news has led many to believe that the new iPhone 6S series prices will be very high. Our prediction is that the Apple's new devices' base model (16GB) price might start around Rs 60,000 if not more.
