Rana Daggubati made an impressive start to his career with 'Leader'. He, however, wasn't able to capitalize on it and delivered back-to-back disasters. 'Baahubali' Franchise brought Rana back into the limelight and 'Ghazi' made him realize what kind of films work for him. And now, He teamed with Teja for yet another political drama. Has Jogendra's life story lived up to the expectations?

Story :

Jogendra (Rana Daggubati), a small-time businessman, loves his Wife Radha (Kajal Agarwal) so much and eagerly waits for the moment of their first child's delivery. The Young Couple have been deprived of Parenthood because of Sarpanch's Wife. That's when Jogendra decides to become Sarpanch. Thereafter, He climbs one step after the other in the political ladder and aims to be a Chief Minister. What kind of hurdles he faced in the process & where did he end his political journey forms rest of the tale.

Performances:

Rana Daggubati has given one of his career-best performances. Audience could see the remarkable confidence levels of the Macho Actor after 'Baahubali'. His get-up & performance made the character of Jogendra so special. He carried the whole movie of his shoulders and elevated the negative shades in this character to the next level. He is quite impressive in emotional scenes.

Kajal Agarwal essayed a crucial role in 'Nene Raju Nene Mantri' & she has done complete justice to it. Catherine Tresa suited the role she played to T. Shivaji Raja is too good. Navdeep is alright. Ashutosh Rana's Role as antagonist wasn't etched well. Tanikella, Ajay and Prabhas Sreenu are okay.

Technical Aspects:

Anoop Rubens Music is a huge asset for 'Nene Raju Nene Mantri'. He proved his mettle as a composer in offering superb output for serious subjects. While the Songs are decent, Background Score has elevated the scene pretty well. Cameraman Venkat C.Dileep succeeded in creating the required mood for the subject. Dialogues by Lakshmi Bhupal have hit the right chord. Production Values are really nice. Director Teja changed his school this time but wasn't able to narrate the subject in a gripping manner till the end. Though he have good knowledge about the contemporary politics, The Filmmaker took cinematic liberties and designed the story-screenplay as per his convenience instead of making it realistically. Still, 'Nene Raju Nene Mantri' is much better than any of his recent projects.

Plus Points:

  • Rana
  • Rana and kajal Chemistry
  • Music
  • First Half

Minus Points:

  • Unwanted Scenes
  • Weak Villain

Finally My personal opinion about Director And Film :

Election of Jogendra as Sarpanch isn't dealt properly. Viewers continue to have the doubt what helped him win in his first election. Later, He wins as MLA, becomes Minister and comes closer to CM Chair. Several scenes in the movie showing the rise of Jogendra appear illogical. Those who thronged theatres expecting a realistic political drama will be left disappointed.

Rana's superb performance as Jogendra, Few Hero-elevation Scenes & Terrific Dialogues keep the proceedings interesting. Jogendra claims to be doing everything for the sake of his Wife but he loses the track and so does the film's screenplay. Unnecessary Scenes & Lag hurts the tempo. The attempt made by Jogendra to claim CM Chair is unconvincing. Weak Villainy & lack of any challenges to the Hero proved costly. Last 20 Minutes of the movie reduced the good impact created in the First Half.

Overall, 'Nene Raju Nene Mantri' is a new attempt from Director Teja. How Movie Buffs will be able to digest the cinematic approach and serious tone is going to be the key here.

    Rating : 2.75/5

    Tagline : Political Drama Thriller.

Final Word:  Illogical  Story but good attempt.
