Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif addressed the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday night.


Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif  raised the Kashmir issue at the UN General Assembly and said that peace between India and Pakistan can only be achieved if the Kashmir issue is solved.And he also said Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani has emerged as a new icon in Kashmir.


He said the uprising in Kashmir is met with brutal force by Indian and Pakistan supports Kashmir’s demand for right to self determination. Sharif also demanded an independent inquiry into the alleged atrocities committed by India’s Armed forces in the Valley. The Pakistani prime minister also urged India to release all “political prisoners” in Kashmir and provide urgent medical help to those injured in the Kashmir unrest. He called on India to abrogate the “draconian” Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

Repeatedly mentioning Kashmir and India in his 20 minute address, Sharif said that Pakistan fully supports Kashmiris right to self-determination.
